From a modest background, Leonard Burton received his early education at the Mount Olivet Primary then accounting at Holmwood Technical High School. Showing initiative he sold ‘snowball and bullas’ at school to assist the family finances as well as his own. A deeply Christian man he became involved in Sunday School from an early age.

After 21 years in the government service, during which he saved his salary, he started farming with two pigs. Still in farming, he shared his special farming ideas with his community, friends and has been National Champion Farmer at Denbigh twice and in consecutive years. His farm attracts international interest.

A Freemason, he is involved in a number of charitable works such as Golden Agers projects and Church work.
